Jane Holder

ESD Consultant

Jane Holder is Reader in Environmental Law in the Centre for Law and Environment, Faculty of Laws, UCL. She was appointed as UKCLE consultant for education for sustainable development (ESD) in September 2009.

Jane’s research centres upon the regulation of environmental decision making, focusing on environmental assessment as a means of directing decisions about land use and development. She has tended to carry out interdisciplinary research, finding collaboration with geographers particularly rewarding, and pursuing contextual approaches to legal research.

Jane teaches courses in Environmental Law and Sustainability and Environmental Justice, and is currently working on sustainable cities issues as part of UCL’s Grand Challenges .
